"LAUGHS AT LAKESIDE"

January 30th to February 23rd, 2008

The High Road Gallery at 12 E. Stafford Ave in Worthington announces a show to warm you up and break the monotony of the grey winter weather:
"Laughs at Lakeside" -- Cartoon and Graphic Arts by Ohio artists. With the cooperation of the National Cartoonists Society Great Lakes Chapter,
Steve Boreman is chair of the show. Cartoonists will exhibit framed or matted originals and prints, as well as books and cards.
Three dimensional additions to the show are enamel pins by Susan Hunt and felted vessels by Suzanne Pusecker.

The show dates are January 30 through February 23. "Sunday Comix", a cartoonists' group, will do a "jam session" during the opening in which all artists are
invited to a progressive cartoon, adding their skills to the panels as they are drawn. Mike Patrick selected prizes for entries in the show and awards will be given at
the reception. The gallery is open Wednesday through Friday from 12-4 and Saturday from 11:30 to 4. The gallery phone number is 614-781-6454.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Near as I can tell some of the folks pictured are Max Ink, Susan Lense, Ron Hill, UKO Smith, Mike Patrick, and Carol Hershey

Pictured above are Jerry Dowling, Ron Hill, UKO Smith, Steve Boreman, Lucy Caswell, Jeff Stahler and Rich Diesslin. Most are in the second photo as well.
Mike Patrick said the judging was difficult but came down to 6 awards. Best of Show went to Steve Boreman for What Have You Done for Me Lately,
First Place to UKO Smith with Domino Girl , Second Place to Thomas Crane for Scholarship, Third Place to Ron Hill for Iraq Cage and
and an honorable mention went to Rich Diesslin for Glaucoma Machine.

This is the beginning of a comic jam that will continue until the show ends. Off to an interesting start!
