GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

	Eagle Court of Honor:  All scouts, scouters and families are invited to the Eagle Court of Honor for David Heidrich and Calvin Perry on 30 Nov at 2PM at Aley Church.
	Zach Habersang Eagle project delayed!:  Due to forecast inclement weather, Zach has decided to push his project forward to the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd.  More info will follow as I receive it.
	Electronics Lock-in:  Jeff Weir has given me this flyer to explain the evening in detail.
	Activity pages and calendar updated:  The calendar and activity pages have been updated to reflect what Ross Durbin has compiled for the activity POC document.  Thanks to Ross for putting this together. Please look at your activity if you are an activity POC to verify all information is correct.  Contact me if you need to make any changes.  Thanks!

	Popcorn Update:   All troop popcorn monies from those orders are due into Mr. Herting no later than December 2, 2008.  If you have any further questions, please contact us.  Jean Schroeder 320-5146 / Kari Sowder 429-5374
	Troop dues increasing January 1st:   Troop dues will be increasing from $5.00 to $7.00 on January 1st.  You may pay in advance up until Jan. 1st at the current price. After January 1st, dues that are in arrears will be collected at the increased rate.  See Carl Herting for more information and to pay dues.
	Christmas Bird Count:   Each year just before the holidays, the naturalists offer the chance to explore the parks and identify birds that spend the winter in Greene County. This information helps determine bird populations and if there are any endangered species. It also gives you a chance to learn more about local bird species.  You will have the chance to learn about bird habitat,  identification markings and what birds actually winter in our area. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring along binoculars.  Saturday, December 20, 9 a.m. Indian Mound Reserve, log cabin lot. 2750 SR 42 N., Cedarville.  11 a.m. Sara Lee Arnovitz Nature Preserve 350 Kinsey Rd., Xenia   1 p.m. Narrows Reserve Nature Center

	Chillicothe District MBTD:   Dates have been set for this:  They are February 7th, and 21st, and March 7th.  The troop calendar will be updated.
	Eagle patrol now has their own webpage:   Matthew Kowal has put together a patrol page for the Eagle Patrol.  You can view it HERE and also in the Patrol links on the left menu.
	Event POC Listing   Here is the Event POC list for our Troop. This list covers the major events that we scheduled, and bravely volunteered to organize, for 2008-2010.  You’ll notice that your name appears next to the event that you picked under the heading “Adult POC”.    Just make sure you pick a day(s), in the proper month, that doesn’t conflict with any major holidays, school events, or anything unforeseen that we’ll totally blame you for missing (kidding).              Please remember several things … All these events have been run before, just ask for advice or help … a Scout POC will be added to help you get messages to all the scouts … An Adult Troop Leader (guy in uniform) will be at your event. He will work with the Senior Ranking Scout at your event to help guide the scouts … and … our official, unofficial motto …  If you’re doing it, you’re doing it right  Honestly, we all make this stuff up as we go, we learn from others, and we try our best to make the events fun.   So, pick your dates (no, not those kinda dates) and type them in column B. Please select “red color” so I can find them!  Then email this thing back to me. I’ll update the master list and, once done, it will get posted on our Troop webpage. Any questions, just email me, ask me at the Tuesday Meeting, or ask anyone else … you’ll get an answer.  Let’s all pick our dates and get this to me by … October 29th.
	Thanksgiving Volunteer project:   Help needy families for Thanksgiving.  See flyer for more information.
	Friendly reminder from your troop historian about pictures: Since I (Dalton) can not make all the troop's activities, if there is someone that takes pictures of an activity that I am not attending, please make 3 to 7 copies for me to include in the Troop 71's Photo Albums. You can give the pictures to me or my mom at a Tuesday meeting. If any highlights took place during the activity, just let me know.  (Dalton Casebolt)
	Photo Archives available:   Photo Archives from 2001-2007 are now available for check out from the Troop 71 library.  There are three DVDs (each is the same) with an web browser (html) scrapbook of photos from those years.  In addition, all of the photos are in two resolutions ... web and print.  Also, the video file for "A Year in the Life" from a few years ago is on the DVDs.  These span from 2001 to early 2007, so if your son was active in the troop during these years, you will want to check this out and copy it to your computer and then return the DVD for others to do the same.  This collection includes photos from many contributors and was compiled by Rich Diesslin while he was the troop web master.  If you have any questions, just ask Mr. Diesslin (RLDes@aol.com).
