Take Me to the River
who will prepare your way;
the voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
`Prepare the way of the Lord,
make his paths straight,'"
Take Me to the River ...
For Mark the beginning of the good news of Jesus starts at his baptism by John the Baptist.
John serves to prepare the way for Jesus - sort of the herald of things to come. Of course,
we think John might have had some unusual requests along the way, although the probably
were not debating the proper way to baptize (e.g. immersion vs. sprinkling).
